Beginning this week two new coaches and two second year coaches will be traveling with their respective teams to some unfamiliar locations. Richmond Hill joins Liberty County, Brunswick, Glynn Academy, Wayne County and Ware County in the newly realigned region 2A-AAAA. Beginning this week the Bryan County News will change the way we have been covering these sports as well.
A weekly column will now highlight the week's scores, highlights, stats and commentary from all four fall sports at Richmond Hill: Football, Softball, Cross Country and Volleyball. Our hope is to capture a little of all the action at the school, still get the big game coverage when it happens as well as provide spotlights on deserving individual student athletes, and coaches. This brief season preview will be the first in the midweek series.
Lyman Guy will coach his first full year for the Wildcat football team, Levi Sybert will inherit the duties for the Cross County Boys and Girls team for the first time, and Sean Strickland and Ashleigh Davis-Lee will pick up where they left off their successful seasons last season for Softball and Volleyball respectively.
In the only action this week the Lady Cat Softball team traveled to McIntosh County Academy and dropped a closely fought 4-2 opener. Lauren Simerly got the start but suffered from lack of defensive support.
The Lady Wildcats committed four errors in spite of out hitting the Lady Buccaneers 8 to 3, and left seven runners on base.
The following is each team's schedule and pertinent details of the upcoming season, with the exception of football. The Wildcats play host to Beach on Friday in a preseason scrimmage before kicking off the 2010 campaign on Aug. 27 at home vs. Johnson High. More on the football team is coming soon.

Coach: Levi Sybert , first year
Outlook: “New region (2A-AAAA) is going to be tough for the boys and girls squads.”...comparing last years times to the new schedule boys would have finished 9th of 12 and the girls 7th of 12. There is definitely a need for improvement. The boys do not return any top five runners and the girls only return three.”
