The RHHS teams notched their first region wins last week with a victory over Thomson. The Lady Wildcats won 4-1 while the Wildcats swept 5-0.
"We’re hitting our stride right now," RHHS Coach Jeff Graham said. "This weekend we play a double header against Baldwin and Washington County, and I feel confident we’ll win against both. The only true competition I see in this region is West Laurens."
RHHS and West Laurens were scheduled to play each other Tuesday, but it got rained out. They will now face off March 29.
The Wildcat tennis teams split with Savannah Arts Academy in a Feb. 23 home match. The boys won while the girls lost.
The boys won every single match as they came away with a sweeping 5-0 victory. This includes wins from No. 1 singles Chris Noonberg, No. 2 singles Ted Noonberg, No. 3 singles Minh Phan, No. 1 doubles Charles Zhu and Justin Almanza, and No. 2 doubles Ted Capocasale and Jared Butler.
The girls match was close, but they lost 3-2. Winning their matches were No. 1 singles Breanna Cota and No. 3 singles Emily Li.
