The RHHS girls basketball season ended Feb. 27 when the ‘Cats (18-10) lost to Northside Columbus (20-6) in the first round of the state playoffs.

It was a close game which went back and forth but ended with a 59-55 Lady Wildcat loss. The score was 31-30 at halftime, with Northside Columbus ahead. The game was tied less than two minutes prior to the final buzzer.

"We played a great game," RHHS Coach Elizabeth Bennett said. "Of course, we were devastated not being able to advance, but we lost to a good team."

Senior Dajah Davis led the game with 20 points and 12 rebounds. Tyler Carlson was not far behind with 19 points and 10 assists.

Bennett said she is very happy with the season in its entirety, which included a win over Calvary and some close contests with Washington County. She said it marks the "end of an era" by losing seniors Carlson, Davis and Kourtney Myers.

Carlson ended her high school career by achieving 1,521 points, which is a RHHS record. As for Davis and Myers, Bennett said she was both amazed and delighted by the level of their performances their senior year.

Bennett said all is not lost though as she has an incredible sophomore class that should step into the spotlight next season. She predicts positive results next year – and even better results the following year, once her sophomores have gotten more experience.
