The Richmond Hill wrestling team defeated both Brunswick and Savannah Arts at home in the last regular match of the season.

It was senior night for the Mat Cats, and seniors Zach Sheffield, Garrett McGuire, Pierce Carter, Dylan Lyle, Michael Morris and Charles Zhu were recognized. RHHS beat Brunswick 58-15 and beat Savannah Arts 55-17.

"It was a good night for us, especially since it was the seniors’ last home match," Moret said. "I hope we can get a lot of first and second places this weekend in West Laurens so we will have a good draw at the sectional tourney at Locust Grove."

Moret said he has several state contenders on his team, including Sheffield (21-0), Josh Bryant (15-1) and Michael Early (15-3).

The region tournament took place Friday, but results were not available at press time. However, Coach Adam Moret predicts Richmond Hill (10-4) will advance with ease into the state sectionals Jan. 12-13 in Locust Grove. The top two teams and top four individuals in each weight class advance to the sectional tournament.
