Six softball players from RHHS and BCHS were recently deemed All-Region honors for their respective regions. In addition, three BCHS players were put on the Region 3-A honorable mention list.

Lady Redskin Tiffany Howard got the highest honor as she was named Region 3-A Player of the Year.

"Tiffany truly deserves this award. She is the best player in the region," BCHS Coach Al Butler said. "I’ve never had the opportunity to coach anybody with her level of mental toughness, love of game and deep understanding of what’s happening in front of her and behind her. She does things that are way beyond what is expected of a sophomore in high school."

Here are the other players who made the cut, along with comments from their coaches.

- Region 3-AAA First Team All-Region, RHHS sophomore Lauren Simerly. "She is an incredible talent combined with a tireless work ethic. Lauren is a great asset to this program, and I’m looking forward to what she has in store for the next two years," RHHS Coach Sean Strickland said.

- Region 3-AAA First Team All-Region, RHHS senior Alex Hefner. "She did a phenomenal job playing 2B for us. She only committed one error and had some big hits for us late in the season," Strickland said.

- Region 3-AAA First Team All-Region, RHHS junior Margaret Goolsby. "Her defense in the outfield is remarkable, especially her arm - a real cannon. She led the team in RBIs and came through in the clutch," Strickland said.

- Region 3-AAA Second Team All-Region, RHHS junior Katie Nance. "She was a real spark plug for us at the top of the lineup. Her defense really improved," Strickland said.

- Region 3-A All-Region Team, BCHS senior Samantha Howard. "Sam offensively carried us. A great leader for our team. Nobody cared more than she did," Butler said.

- Region 3-A All-Region Team, BCHS junior Bridget Bacon. "Bridget has many tools, including probably the strongest arm in our region. She has great speed, works hard, and had a great season at the plate. She had ten triples, which tied her fifth in the state for triples," Butler said.

- Region 3-A All-Region Honorable Mentions, BCHS sophomore Jerri Hines, BCHS sophomore Rebecca Strickland and BCHS sophomore Sierra Cornell. "Rebecca did great in the infield at first base. Jerri pounded the ball offensively in addition to a good second base. Sierra was a solid player. She was on fire during the region tourney, where she batted over 600," Butler said.
