Lady Redskins Tiffany Howard (20:57) finished 11th in the 1A bracket of the state track meet to lead the pack for Bryan County High School.
The event took place Saturday in Carrollton. Overall, the Lady Redskins finished 16th out of 27 teams. The Redskin boys did not qualify for state.
BCHS Coach Cindy Bennett said she was very pleased with her team’s performance on Saturday, saying her girls "gave it everything they had."
The next fastest BCHS runner was Courtney Markles (25:03), followed by Rachel Anderson (26:12), Macy Newman (27:45), Hailey Stevens (28:34), McKenzie Covington (30:55) and Amber Myrick (32:29).
"They worked hard throughout the whole season," Bennett said. "They were never satisfied with their performance, and they always wanted to do more to improve their time. That is the reason we were 16th in the state, because of their hard work."
The entire team is made up of sophomores, so everyone is expected to return next year.
"I am excited to see this team as it grows and matures over the next two years," Bennett said. "They are already setting goals for themselves for next season. They are truly a great group to work with."
