
The Richmond Hill High School girls’ volleyball team won three straight games during the region tournament over the weekend in Dublin to become Region 3-AAA champions.
"Region champs our first year. I don’t think that it has set in yet, even the girls aren’t truly aware of what that actually means yet," Coach Ashleigh Davis-Lee said. "What a wonderful feeling, nothing like it. We are ready to only move forward from here."
The Lady ‘Cats entered the tournament as the No. 1 seed and received a bye in the first round.
In round two, they beat West Laurens High School 2-0. Gaby Parker led with 13 digs, 2 aces and 3 kills. Tarnisha Washington had 12 digs and Breanna Cota had 8 Digs, 2 aces and 1 block.
RHHS then beat Baldwin County 2-1. Parker led with 39 digs, 7 kills and 2 aces. Other top players this game included Washington, Cota, Whitney Regan, Washington, Jynee Bryan, Nikki Shields and Lindsey Vasher.
In the championship game, RHHS beat Baldwin County 3-1. Parker led with 34 digs, 6 kills and 6 aces. Other top players included Regan, Washington, Bryan, Cota, Vasher and Amber Kasinger.
"I couldn’t have asked for a better group of girls this season," Davis-Lee said. "This has been such a rewarding inaugural season for the RHHS Lady Wildcats."
The first round in the state tournament will take place this Saturday at RHHS, 1 p.m. start.
Richmond Hill will face the fourth seed in Region 7-AAA, Flowery Branch.
