The Richmond Hill Wildcat volleyball team has been steamrolling the competition lately. Over the weekend, they beat Burke County, Baldwin and West Laurens. All were region victories to give the Lady ‘Cats an impressive 13-5 overall record and 8-1 for Region 3-AAA.
Last week, in their second home meet double header, Richmond Hill defeated non-region Windsor Forest and lost to Savannah Arts Academy.
Amazingly enough, seeing how this is merely the first year of the program, Richmond Hill is now the number one seed as they head into the region tournament, which begins Saturday at West Laurens.
Lady ‘Cat Gaby Parker continues to lead the offense with a combined 24 aces and 13 aces over the weekend. Other top Richmond Hill performers over the weekend included Ariel Cassidy, Nikki Shields, Amber Kasinger, Whitney Regan and Tarnisha Washington.
"I am extremely proud of the girls and their achievements this season," Coach Ashleigh Davis-Lee said. "The inaugural season for the Richmond Hill Lady Wildcats has been a successful one despite the few little bumps in the road that challenged us to get better. We have a row of better teams that will lead us and challenge us to be well prepared for the weekend. It is extremely exciting! I have high hopes for the team as we head into the final weeks of the 2009 season."
