The Richmond Hill Wildcat Marching Band ended their 2008 marching competition season at the 29th Annual Old South Marching Competition in Newnan, GA this past Saturday receiving superior ratings.
The Wildcats were rated superior in the Color Guard, Percussion, and overall band categories. A total of 23 bands with a combined 2,000 plus participants were in attendance along with the majority of their supporters and parents for the event.
The Wildcat Marching Band was extremely impressive in the Class AAAAA Classification and in my opinion blew away the entire field of bands. The sound of the Wildcat Band is one that could rival with any collegiate marching band; I for one can't wait for the Wildcat Marching Band to once again take the field for the 09' season.
Looking back over this year’s short marching band season the Wildcats were also named Grand Champions of the Coastal Empire Classic and after making the elite eight at The Lafayette Marching Classic they finished and impressive fourth. The marching band competed against nearly 50 bands in their three competitions as they represented Richmond Hill and South Bryan County with such great pride. The Wildcats never once disappointed this spectator or their faithful supporters, parents, and community.
The band will now transition into their Symphonic and Concert Band season, performances will begin in December.
